Rübezahls Electronic Sound Laboratory
Using a breadboard and an assortment of electronic components, we will discover the amazing world of analogue circuitry. With a hands on approach, and only a minimum of theory, we will get to know basic electronic parts and their function. We will make oscillators, and try out all the different ways to influence their sound. Don't worry if you don't really understand what these words mean. For example we will discover how we can make sounds with the help of our own bodies. Or sounds that depend on light: A regular flashlight can suddenly become a powerful expressive instrument. Even fruits can influence our sounds.
And even more: After creating sounds from scratch we will connect your instruments and see how our circuit can become an audio effect: Ever tried to change the sound of your guitar through a banana? Now you can!
For this workshop, no knowledge about electronics or music is required. Everything you need is an open mind! We will see how simple it is to make all kinds of electronic sounds with just a few basic components. There is a whole world of endless sonic possibilities in your hand and this workshop wants to encourage you to get creative and explore those possibilities yourself. Each of us will have a different instrument in the end, which we will play together and you can take home.
